The Dewing School Parents’ Advisory Council (PAC) is open to any member of the Loella F. Dewing School community, parent, guardian or staff.  The primary objective of the Dewing PAC is to be supportive of the children and staff of the Loella F. Dewing School. The PAC supports the educational activities and projects that enhance the learning objectives established by staff. The PAC meets monthly to discuss ideas, consider requests and plan events.  Please join us!  We always welcome new members with new ideas.  If you have any questions or would like more information on any of our activities or committees, or wish to help in any way please feel free to contact one of the PAC Officers. Arts & Enrichment Programs

Birthday Book Club  Donate a book to the library in honor of your child's birthday. This committee is responsible for sending home registration notices at the beginning of the year to all students. A book drive is held to collect, label and catalogue all books for the library. A Donor/Birthday Recognition Board in the library is also set up and maintained by this committee.

Book Fair In May,  we offer a book fair that provides a great selection of books for students to purchase.  Each class is allotted a separate time to select books.  Many volunteers are needed to assist students with their purchases, set-up the displays, restock the shelves, and breakdown the displays at the end of the Book Fair.  Sue McLaughlin

Bulletin Board The PAC maintains a bulletin board inside the Dewing School posting upcoming events, contests and more. Jeannette Waugh

Campbell's

Students collect "Campbell Labels"  products and the school receives a cash rebate for each Campbell label. Volunteers collect labels from the classrooms, organize them for a rebate.

Dewing Dolphin Newsletter / Calendar The editor compiles and types information about events happening at school and formats the Monthly Newsletter. Help is needed once a month with copying, collating and distributing the newsletters, and we encourage all staff and students to also contribute via The Information For Newsletter Form Melissa Lane

Dewing Dew Gooders The Dew-Gooders provide a variety of outreach and humanitarian experiences to Dewing students and families, and they help to raise awareness about ways to serve others in the Merrimack Valley and beyond. Beth McFadyen

Dewing School Sign This committee will maintain the sign located in the front of the school.  Committee members will post upcoming events, messages, etc. after receiving approval of both the PAC Chair(s) and the principal.  Jeanann Williams

Fundraising This committee raises money to support school activities and services not provided through the school budget during the year, such as funding field trip busses and purchasing equipment for the school, such as the laminator, binder, Risograph, and new copiers.  There is only one major fundraiser held in the fall, with a few smaller activities during the year.  Loretta Ryan

Fourth Grade Celebration This committee is for those who are interested in the organization and implementation of send-off activities to be held for the 4th grade students who are leaving the Dewing School. Maggie Butler

General Mills Box Tops Students collect “Box Tops for Education” box tops from General Mills products and the school receives a cash rebate for each box top.  Volunteers collect box tops from the classrooms, organize them and send them into General Mills for the rebate.  Loretta Ryan

Hospitality This committee acknowledges hospitalization, births, illness, etc. of staff and students and provides an appropriate gift. Kristin Garland

Ice Cream Social Held once a year, this event allows the school community and evening to socialize.  Parent volunteers are needed to set-up, scoop ice cream and clean up afterwards. Kelly Wentworth

Laminating / Copying Service Provides students and staff with the printing and laminating of written work done in the classroom.  Volunteers go in once a week for a few hours to supply each grade level with copying and / or laminating assistance.  Lori El Hakim

School Store The School Store is located adjacent to the cafeteria and is open twice a month during lunch hours to allow students the opportunity to shop on their own and support their school.  Many volunteers are needed to assist the students with purchases.  The time commitment is two hours (lunch periods) once every 2-3 months.  Kerry Quinn

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Once a year parents host a luncheon for the staff of the Dewing School in appreciation for all they do for the students.  Many volunteers are needed to cook, set-up, serve, and clean up for this important event.
